Sigma Sports Solutions is pleased to announce that one of their Sigma ETC players, Kyle Bekker of Oakville Ontario has joined AFC Ajax of Amsterdam for the 2007-08 season. After two successive trial period with the club in the spring of 2007, Kyle Bekker was selected to join the A Youth Selection (U-19) of the famed youth structure at Ajax.
From July 25th Kyle Bekker has been training at the Toekomst Training Center under the direction of former Ajax Great Sonny Silooy. According to Coach Sonny Silloy, "Kyle has great enthusiasm for the game and thoroughly enjoys his time on the field. He is a technically gifted player in the midfield with excellent vision and decision making. As every other player at the top of the Ajax pyramid he must become better on a daily basis as for these players the call could come at any point to represent our professional team".
With 6 training sessions per week and many hours spent at the Toekomst Training Center a player at Ajax is immersed into the professional soccer environment on a daily basis.
Sigma Sports via their relationship with Ajax has provided this great opportunity to a very talented individual who has the ability to reach new heights in his career as a football player. Kyle Bekker is of the first North American based players that Sigma Sports in cooperation with MT&V Sports in Holland have placed in Europe. It is our initiative to provide this opportunity to the talented young players within our ETC Program.
Kyle Bekker was first identified by Bobby Smyrniotis and Wim Kwakman of Ajax as a participant in the Sigma AJAX Academy Coaches ID Camp held in Toronto in the summer of 2006. He was then invited to the join the Sigma ETC Program in the fall of 2006 and was an important member of the B1 group who successfully toured Holland and Belgium in 2007. Sigma Sports Solutions would like to congratulate Kyle and his family and will be supporting him throughout his time in Europe.
